Department of Urology
f-URS/RIRS
This is a surgery for stones up to approximately 2 cm in size, in which a 3 mm diameter ureteroscope is inserted through the urethra, and a laser is used to remove the stones.

PNL/ECIRS
- Combination of transurethral and percutaneous nephrolithotripsy.
- It is indicated for stones over 3 cm in size.
- A 3 mm diameter ureteroscope is inserted through the urethra.
- A camera (nephroscope) is inserted through the kidney.
- The stone is fragmented and removed using a laser.
- Because a catheter is inserted into the kidney for several days, hospital stay is relatively more extended than with URS/RIRS.

Active fragment extraction by the surgeon
This style of self-retrieval basketing by the surgeon has minimized operating time and maximized treatment effect in our department for decades.
One-person f-URS/RIRS
Control fragmenting, basketing, and volume of perfusion by the surgeon with the foot-pump irrigation to achieve the best efficiency.
- One-person surgery is a highly efficient surgical method that we perform uniquely.
- The surgeon can control each necessary surgical step quickly and promptly.
Control intra-renal pressure (IRP)
Single-use ureteroscope to measure intrarenal pressure.
(LithoVue EliteTM, Boston Scientific)
An automatic perfusion system for lithotripsy.

- The duration of the surgery depends on the size of the prostate but is usually about 1-2 hours. If you have physical strength, handling more than 200 ml is possible.
- Bleeding and surgery time depend on the size of the prostate. Usually, there is no need for a blood transfusion.
- To make sure you don't have prostate cancer, you may be advised to have an MRI or prostate biopsy beforehand.
- About one month after surgery, we will provide lifestyle guidance for a quick and complete recovery, such as not applying abdominal pressure and avoiding unreasonable exercise.
- The decision of HoLEP or CVP will be appropriately suggested by the examining physician.
Laser transpiration (CVP)

Non-contact laser vaporization of the prostate is known as a surgical procedure called CVP. This is a method in which a laser is directly in contact with the prostate tissue, irradiating it with the laser, vaporizing and evaporating the tissue, causing the enlarged prostate tissue to disappear rapidly. Compared to other laser devices, it is said to have a higher hemostatic effect, and taking advantage of this feature, we perform this procedure on benign prostatic hyperplasia of less than 100ml.
Prostatic Urethral Lift(PUL)

- The surgery time depends on the prostate gland size (up to 80 ml), but it only takes about 15 minutes.
- Since it is a surgery that places little burden on the body, it may be chosen by the elderly.
Bleeding is minor, but hematuria may be observed after discharge from the hospital. In most cases, about one month after surgery, the urinary urgency and hematuria will subside. - To make sure you don't have prostate cancer, you may be advised to have an MRI or prostate biopsy beforehand.
- This surgery can preserve male sexual function, including ejaculation.
